PGA is a sterile, absorbable, synthetic, multifilament surgical suture, composed of polyglycolic acid（C2H2O2）n. The coating material is polycaprolactone and calcium stearate.

Product Details

The suture is indicated for use in soft tissue approximation and/or ligation but not for use incardiovascular tissue and neurological tissue. The suture meets all the requirements of United States Pharmacopoeia(USP) and European
Pharmacopoeia(EP)for absorbable surgical suture.

Advantages

  • The suture has a high initial tensile strength. 70% of the original tensile strength is retained upto two weeks after surgery, 50% of the original tensile strength is retained at the end of three weeks post implantation.
  • In general, the suture is completely absorbed after about 60-90 days and the absorption of different tissues are slightly different.
